Grissom is a commander and priest in the Order of the Crimson Blade, directly under the orders of Romeo Guildenstern. While it is possible that his unit was part of the troops at the raid on the Duke's manor, it is more likely that he was called in with the rest of the reserves once Sydney fled to Leá Monde. His penchant for ruthlessness and his skills on the battlefield have given him a reputation of brutality, reinforced by his hatred for the Müllenkamp cult.

Little is known about Grissom personally. His older brother Duane is of equal rank in the Crimson Blades, despite the fact that Grissom is a much better swordsman and Duane is far quicker to call on the Dark to support his less-than-stellar weapon abilities. For Grissom, summoning is a last resort, and his brutality is limited to his enemies, not those under his command.

Grissom is in his early thirties at the time of the Leá Monde incident, and is determined to repay the VKP's Riskbreaker for the death of his sibling. However, his desire for revenge will cost him dearly.
