Paradise by the Dashboard Lights

"I can see paradise by the dashboard light..."
-Meat Loaf

"Boy did that ever suck." Kento managed to throw his empty popcorn container into the bin with a manner that displayed his EXTREME disgust.

"I don't know," Sai began. Whenever he corrected his best friend (which was often) he always began with 'I don't know'. He discovered it got him verbally further than 'Yeah, RIGHT, Kento!' which is what he usually thought. "I rather liked it."

"There was no action!"

"The drama was excellent."

"No adventure!"

"The plot's inherent subtleties were-"

"There was no SEX!"

Sai blinked, and blushed. "Er.. the sensual tension between the two main characters..."

"NEVER WENT ANYWHERE!!" Kento stalked out of the movie theater, his attitude enough to make people give him a wide berth. Sai trailed along in his wake, absently munching his popcorn. He'd barely made a dent in it- the box Kento had thrown away had been his fourth. "It was boring boring BORING!" Kento was in no way done with his tirade. "For thirty minutes they just LOOKED at each other!"

"They were conveying-"

"That they'd forgotten their lines!!" Kento's indigo eyes flashed with indignation, but something about the way they swept over Sai made his insides behave oddly, he focused on the popcorn in his hands. "Lines that I may add were SUBTITLED!" Kento paused on the sidewalk to scowl at Sai.

"Well, next time YOU pick the movie." Sai's tone was resigned. Kento disliked any movie with a body count of less than 200.

"Maybe next week I'll have a real date." Kento grumbled.

"You've said that for the past three years." Sai was between smirking and being mildly depressed. He decided against informing Kento that the chick in the box office had assumed they were a couple.

"I have had a FEW dates in that amount of time, Sai," Kento reminded him with unaccustomed gentleness. Sai shrugged. They continued down the street. Thunder rumbled faintly.

Neither one of them was unattractive- quite the contrary in fact- but the two of them together was a visual contradiction. Sai was taller, and more slightly built, with fragile bone structure and wide sea-green eyes that made him look both younger and more vulnerable than he truly was. Kento was built like a brick wall, his broad shoulders and heavily muscled form occasionally giving the illusion that he was fat, which he was not. His features were blunt but still handsome, with the ability to convey a range of emotions without saying a word. Their hair was cut essentially the same, but Kento's inky locks made him look like a Beijing street punk, while Sai's fine auburn hair and British accent resembled a truant schoolboy. When the two of them were together -which was almost constantly- their dissimilar characteristics were thrown into sharp contrast.

Halfway to the car the rainstorm which had been threatening all day decided to break, dousing them with cold droughts of spring rain.

"Damnit, Sai!" Kento yelled as they pelted down the street, "Can't you control your own fucking element?"

"I don't do weather!!" Sai shot back, trying to flip hair out of his eyes as he ran.

"Can't you do ANYTHING?" Kento thrust the key into the door lock and began the punch-rattle-jiggle-pray routine to get the door open.

"Listen, do I give you hell about earthquakes?" Sai rested his hand on the handle, trying to ignore the icy water drizzling down the back of his shirt.

Kento managed to wrench the door open and clambered inside, leaning across to let in a very soggy Sai.

"Damn but it's cold!" Sai's teeth were chattering, rainwater dripping off his bangs. He could deal with being wet, he did after all ADORE water... but he despised being cold.

Kento grabbed the blanket out of the backseat and tossed it to Sai, flipping on the heat with his other hand as he did so.

Sai gave Kento a grateful smile as he attempted to towel off his hair, but he was soaked through. Kento flashed him a wink as he cranked the engine and pulled out of the parking spot, and suddenly Sai was QUITE warm. He stared at the dash, mutely confused by the way he was reacting. It was nothing new, but... he sighed. We'll be home soon. I won't have to deal with it.

Halfway home the engine died.

"Well this is just GREAT." Kento glowered at the rain still pouring down in bucketfuls. "I thought Rowen fixed the damn car!"

"Yeah, with duct tape and hairpins." Sai sighed, and shivered. The car was already getting cold without the heater. "All you have to do is open it up and jiggle that.. that one thing..." Sai was NOT mechanically minded, but fortunately Kento knew what to do.

"I know, I know.. but I sure as hell ain't getting out to do it now." Kento folded his arms on the steering wheel and stared out at the dark empty road they'd just pulled off of. He glanced over at Sai, shuddering and squelching in his seat.

"Hey Sai.. I think I saw some clothes in the back, want me to look?" There was usually at least one change of clothing in the car.. a good precaution when your garments got habitually shredded by donning sub-armor, or the occasional mutant boomerang-wielding psychopath.

"In this wreck?" Sai smirked in rueful gratitude. "Shouldn't be surprised if the holy grail was about someplace."

Kento turned around on his knees, bending over the single front seat and pawing through various stuff piled in the back, training gear, tapes, clothes, fast food bags and the odd religious artifact, and finally came up with a pair of jeans that were likely Ryou's, and an anonymous gray t-shirt.

"Here... more or less clean, the jeans are probably too big but at least it' sdry." Kento aimed the clothes at Sai's general location and flopped back behind the steering wheel.

Sai nodded his thanks and began unbuttoning his shirt, but froze in the act of peeling it off, suddenly self-conscious. Kento, sensing his friend's unease, cleared his throat and pointedly looked out the drivers side window. Sai smiled inwardly. Only Kento would know him so well as to not look. He flung his drippy shirt in the back, unaware that every move he made was reflected perfectly in Kento's rain-dark window.

Kento knew full well he was taking advantage of the situation; he even felt a twinge of guilt. But he had always been fascinated by Sai's easy grace and hidden strength. He knew exactly the sheer power contained in that slight dancers frame, but Sai's motions were always as delicate as his crystalline eyes or the perfect curve of his lower lip. Kento's own eyes followed Sai's movements as he lifted his hips off the seat to slide off the wet jeans, the gesture so unconsciously seductive it made the burn double. Kento shifted in his seat, hopefully nonchalantly. Sai was wearing pale blue silk boxers, soaked through with rain, and they clung to his flexing thighs like waves wrapped around sand. Very little was left to Kento's imagination, but he imagined it anyway, especially the way the wet fabric would feel under his hands- or his mouth. Sai kicked off his jeans and frowned thoughtfully at the borrowed pair, obviously debating putting on dry clothes over damp underthings or just go without. Finally he shrugged and slithered out of the boxers too, his pale lithe body reflected in it's flawless detail.

Kento's grip tightened on the steering wheel, his knuckles going white. He wanted to hug Sai's chilled vulnerable form to his own until he was warm, and then- the need was becoming painful, he mentally urged Sai to put the clothes on so he wouldn't be tormented anymore.

Sai flopped over on his side to pull on the dry pants, unknowingly giving Kento a perfect view of his backside. Kento gripped the wheel with both hands, the only thing keeping him from touching Sai. That was when Sai glanced up at the passenger side window and saw Kento's twice-reflected smoldering eyes watching every move he made.

Sai whirled, the jeans falling forgotten from his hands to the floorboard. Kento guiltily concentrated on the dash display, trying hard to swallow but his throat was too dry.

"You were watching me." I wasn't an accusation, or a question. If anything Sai's voice was awed, his mind whirling. He was watching me.. he WANTS me...

"Put your clothes on Sai," Kento commanded, in a low, strangled voice.

That was all it took to confirm Sai's suspicions, that and his friend's obvious desire, emphasized rather than concealed by his jeans. Sai shoved his inhibitions aside, holding tightly to the information he had. With only a second to decide not to think about what he was doing, he pulled his legs up onto the seat and scooted over next to Kento.

"I don't think you really want me to," he murmured softly. Sai's heart was pounding, his stomach fluttering with nervous butterflies. But seeing Kento so disarmed by his want- Kento: who never seemed weak- and knowing that HE had done this, made a strange sort of power flow in Sai's veins, along with the want. I did this to him.

Kento shivered, Sai's breath was warm on his ear. He couldn't say anything, and he refused to look at Sai just offering himself. The unrelenting ache made it hard to think about anything else, though.

"I thought you liked looking at me." Sai pressed his dry bare body against Kento's damp clothes. "Why won't you look at me now, when I want you to?"

"Sai," Kento found his voice, but it was strained. "Don't tease me. Just put on your damn clothes." Before I have to ravage you...

"Do you think I'm not serious?" Kento knew Sai was serious, knew it all too well. Sai's hands slipped around him, tugging gently at his shirt. "You're wet through too... "

Kento was immobile, staring fixedly at the stalled windshield wipers, fighting the screaming of his body. If he looked, then he wasn't leaving this car until he had taken Sai, and in doing so he would probably hurt him. Kento wasn't the gentlest of lovers, he wasn't made for it.

Sai's aggression faltered, unsure in the face of Kento's non-reaction. He obviously still wanted him. Sai's eyes and voice were tremulously uncertain. Had he just made a complete and utter fool of himself? "Kento? Why won't you-"

"Because you don't know what you're asking now STOP IT!" Kento's eyes flashed as he finally glared at Sai, shrugging off his embrace and catching Sai off balance. Sai half-sat, half fell back on his heels, his eyes round with shock and glassy with sudden unexpected tears. He glanced away, blinking.

"Oh." He huddled miserably against the passenger door. Baka. Did you really think he wanted you? You should know better.

Kento instantly regretted his words, swearing violently to himself and reaching out for Sai's pale shoulder. "Sai- I didn't mean-"

Sai shied back expertly from the touch and swung up his hand to block away Kento's, as though warding a blow. "Leave me alone." He couldn't hide the rawness of the wound, he bled through his words.

Kento's chest felt tight. "I just don't want to hurt you-"

"Well it's a little late for that!" Sai shot back bitterly, his voice thick with tears and anguished. Kento's hand closed on Sai's upper arm.

"I'm sorry Sai. But if I- if we... it may hurt.. at first."

A long pause, and a sniffle. "I'm no stranger to pain, Kento."

"You are from me," Kento's voice and touch were both gentle, stroking the soft auburn hair and the smooth cheek, his strong dark hands brushing away tears purer than the ocean.

"It's my choice," Sai said, barely audibly. "But if you don't want me-"

"No." Kento said, in a low growl, grasping Sai's shoulders and pulling him so they were facing each other. "I want you. I want to touch you, taste you, feel you all around me. I want you so much it hurts, so much for so long that I don't know what it is to look at you and not ache, Sai. I.. want.. you."

Sai blinked at him, his heart in his throat and his whole body aching just from Kento's words. He leaned a little closer, his hands sliding up under Kento's shirt. "Then as you want me," he whispered, "touch me. taste me. take me. It hurts more not knowing."

Kento said nothing, searching Sai's gaze for a long moment, his arms sliding down to pull Sai against him, and then touching his lips to his. The kiss was soft for perhaps a second, then Sai was pressed back down against the door by the violence of Kento's desire, his probing kiss annihilating anything that might have resembled resistance. Sai found himself returning it full force, unable and unwilling to hold back anything.

Kento struggled to get out of his damp clothes, Sai helping him, jerking at the fabric impatiently until they were both free of it, their mouths never parting. Skin to skin at last in the dark, Sai grabbed the dry blanket and wrapped it around both of them.

Kento's kisses were as ruthless as he was in battle, his mouth and tongue finding all of Sai's weaknesses: the hollow of his throat, the soft skin behind his earlobe, his lower lip. Sai ran his hands over Kento's body, over his broad shoulders and down his back. He was hard and sleek all over, like a stone tumbled for centuries in a stream. Kento pulled Sai beneath him onto the wide front seat.

"Want you," he breathed, moving his hips against Sai, sex pressed against sex, both hard and aching. "Want you so bad..." Sai shivered at the feel of him, almost frighteningly larger than he was. But he cautiously reached down to touch what he had done to Kento.

Kento groaned softly, his eyes squeezing shut as he pushed himself against the stroking hand. "More."

Sai gripped him and tugged gently, watching his face. Kento almost looked like he was in pain, but a faint smile lingered on his lips. "Harder," Kento practically snarled. "do it Harder, Sai..."

Sai did his best to do what Kento wanted, feeling him swell even more in his grip. Kento's body trembled, rocking himself against Sai's hand. "Yeah.. just like that....." He bit his lip, arching slightly. "mmmmm...." He opened his eyes and looked down at Sai, his dark blue irises almost black with want. "like this," he whispered, and Sai felt a warm grasp enfold him, Kento's thumb running in slow circles on the underside of the tip, his hand pulling in even rhythmic strokes on Sai.

Sai gasped, and writhed under him. No one had ever touched him, and whenever he touched himself it hadn't felt this good. He tried to duplicate the movements for Kento, but he shook his head, pulling out of Sai's grasp. Kento's hand never missed a beat as he carefully lifted Sai's legs around his waist, and moved to take him. Sai felt the nudge, and his eyes flashed open. The steady pull of Kento's hand kept him from freezing up in fear, relaxing him and making him hungry for more.

"If I hurt you Sai, tell me to stop. I will."

Sai lifted his hips against Kento. "If I want you to stop, I'll tell you to stop." He pushed slightly against him. "Do it." He whispered, his voice ghostly. "Now."

Kento nodded slowly, and keeping his even strokes, pushed himself as gently as he could into Sai.

Sai's eyes widened in shock, then shut tightly in pain, a hot tear leaking out of his eyelid. He bit his lip so hard it brought blood, keeping himself from crying out loud.

"Nn-!"

"Sai?" Kento stopped moving instantly.

"Don't stop," Sai breathed, and raised his hips a little more, making it easier. His body was adjusting, it didn't hurt so much. Feeling Kento ~inside~ him was somehow warm and perfect and impossibly Right. He placed his hands against Kento's hips, urging him further. "I'm alright."

Kento kissed the tear away, his tongue softly removing the faint metallic taste of blood on Sai's lips. "I'm so sorry," Was all he said, and slid in all the way.

Sai exhaled.

Kento meant to start out slowly, keeping himself in time with the increasing speed of his hand on Sai. But Sai felt so sweet, his soft voice going sultry, urging him on in feathery incendiary whispers.

"c'mon.... tell me how I feel... do you like me like this... nnnnnnnnn.... faster, c'mon, c'mon.. come for me.. I want to feel it...."

The words alone were enough to drive Kento over the brink. Sai's hard body pushing up against him and his sex in his grasp only made it worse. He was losing himself when Sai's eyes, half-shut, opened suddenly in wonder, his mouth soundlessly framing Kento's name. His sex spasmed in Kento's hand as he climaxed, feeling him spill against his abdomen, warm as the Pacific in July. Sai was moaning helplessly underneath him, tears that were not from pain sliding down his cheeks.

Kento could no longer hold himself in check, releasing Sai only to clutch him in his arms as he thrust desperately.

The stars in Sai's vision were just starting to fade when he felt Kento shift within him, and then the warmth of his release spread throughout his body. He groaned into Sai's auburn hair, his arms crushing his slender frame close. "Sai," he gasped, and said it over and over again, one for every thrust, for every wave that wracked his body.

It all slowed to a halt. Sai looked up at Kento, his head buried against Sai's shoulder. Kento lifted his head slowly and looked down at him, smiling in a fragile way Sai had never seen before. Kento just brushed back Sai's hair with one hand.

Sai was so tired, and blinked at him in sleepy wonder. He was so exhausted that when he meant to say "I can't believe you made love to me," It came out as a dazed, "I can't believe you love me." Before he had time to correct himself, Kento kissed him, his tongue slipping inside him as he slowly withdrew himself from Sai's body.

"I do."

Neither of them noticed that the rain had stopped.

Sai woke up being laid in bed. "huumuh?" he glanced about in confusion. What had-?

"shh."

Kento.

"You fell asleep on the way home."

Damn. It had to have been a dream.

"Oh." Sai slumped back against his pillow. He sighed. He swore he could still feel Kento inside him. It was so real... "Thanks. Goodnight, Kento."

Kento paused by Sai's bed, wondering if he sound give it away now or wait until Sai was coherent enough to realize he hadn't been dreaming. Sai looked so disappointed that couldn't resist. Kento bent and kissed him tenderly, Sai jumping in sudden remembrance, and then leaned so eagerly into the kiss that it almost made Kento volunteer a repeat performance. He smirked. "Goodnight, Sai."

Sai was already falling asleep again. "mmm."

"We on for the movies again next weekend?

Sai managed a grin. "Maybe next weekend you'll have a real date."

"I could be wrong, but I think I just asked you for one."

Sai snuggled sleepily into his blankets. "You're on."
